Diabetes Awareness Month

November 18

Mayor Armondo Pavone presented the proclamation designating November as Diabetes Awareness Month in Renton. To accept the proclamation was Renton's City Clerks Officer, Jason Seth.

October 21

Filipino American History Month

Mayor Armondo Pavone presented the proclamation designating October as Filipino American History Month in Renton. Two of the Mayor’s Inclusion Task Force members, Violet Aesquivel and Rolly Polintan, accepted the proclamation.

October 14

National Planning Month proclamation

Mayor Armondo Pavone presented the proclamation designating October as National Planning Month in Renton. To accept the proclamation was the city's Planning Director, Matt Herrera and several of the planners within the city's Community & Economic Development Department.

October 7

Domestic Violence Awareness Month proclamation

Mayor Armondo Pavone presented the proclamation designating October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The proclamation was accepted by Tina Harris, the Renton Police Department's domestic violence advocate. Katya Wojcik, the director of Project Be Free, joined in the designation as this year's highlighted partner.

In addition, the following agencies funded by the city were in attendance during the council meeting: Centro Rendu of St. Vincent de Paul, Crisis Connections, Lifewire, ELAP, and DAWN.

Ready in Renton proclamation

Mayor Armondo Pavone presented the proclamation designating September as Ready in Renton Month. To accept the proclamation was the city's Emergency Management Director, Deborah Needham.

Hispanic Heritage Month 2024

Mayor Armondo Pavone presented the proclamation designating September 15 through October 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month. To accept the proclamation was restaurant owner of Santa Fe Mexican Grill, Isidro Rojas.

Farmers Market proclamation

Mayor Armondo Pavone presented the proclamation designating August 4-10 as Farmers Market Week in Renton. To accept the proclamation was Renton Farmers Market Coordinator, Carrie Olson.

Parks and Recreation Month in Renton

Mayor Armondo Pavone presented the proclamation designating July 8 as Parks and Recreation Month in Renton. To accept the proclamation was City of Renton Parks and Recreation Administrator Maryjane Van Cleave, accompanied by various staff from the department.

Mayor Armondo Pavone presented the proclamation designating July 1 as Disability Pride Month in Renton. To accept the proclamation was Kristina Brown, Kindering Director of Public Affairs, parent Rome Johnson, and Kari Grimit, Renton campus manager from Kindering.

Juneteenth Proclamation

Mayor Armondo Pavone presented the proclamation designating June 17 as Juneteenth 2024 in Renton. To accept the proclamation was Danielle Smith, Renton Chamber of Commerce Board Chair and Renton business owner of Café de la Loba.

LGBTQIA+ proclamation

Mayor Armondo Pavone presented the proclamation designating June LGBTQIA+ Pride Month in Renton. The proclamation was accepted by Sara Palmer, President of the Renton LGBTQIA+ Community.

May 13

Safe Boating and Paddling Proclamation

Two proclamations were presented on the May 13 council meeting. First, Mayor Armondo Pavone presented the proclamation designating May 18-24 as Safe Boating and Paddling Week. The proclamation was accepted by Debra Alderman from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla.

Public Works Proclamation

Second, Mayor Armondo Pavone presented the proclamation designating May 19-25 as National Public Works Week. The proclamation was accepted by Public Works Administrator Martin Pastucha.

City Clerks Week Proclamation

Mayor Armondo Pavone presented the proclamation designating May 6 as Professional Municipal Clerks Week in Renton (May 5-11). To accept the proclamation was Renton’s City Clerk and Public Records Officer and frequent speaker during Monday night council meetings, Jason Seth. Mayor Armondo Pavone presented the proclamation designating April 8 as Sexual Assault Awareness Month in Renton. To accept the proclamation was the newly appointed CEO of King County Sexual Assault Resource Center (KCSARC), Kate Kurg.
