Code Compliance

The City of Renton has adopted rules and regulations which are designed to ensure safe and attractive neighborhoods, both in existing and developing areas.

The City's Code Compliance and Enforcement Program are intended to assist in this growth process by providing enforcement of these rules and regulations in a responsible, fair, courteous and impartial manner. Code complaints are vital to ensuring our communities are clean and safe.  Filing a code complaint is a legal matter that should not be taken lightly.

File a Complaint

Citizens may express their concerns to the City of Renton via Renton Responds using one of the categories below or by leaving a message on the 24-hour Reporting Hotline 425-430-7373. To receive a phone call or email reply, make sure to fill out the form completely.

A complaint should include:

  1. The address, telephone number and email of the person making the complaint

  2. A clear description of the nature of the alleged violation

  3. Address of the alleged violation and the name of the alleged violator (if known), and

  4. Any other pertinent information.

Complaint Categories

Comments received are part of the public record and subject to disclosure under the Public Records Act, RCW 42.56. Please do not include any information in your comments or supporting materials that you do not wish to be made public. The City of Renton will only release information by Public Disclosure request or by order of a court of law.
