The Staff Services Division is the police department's information gateway.

The Police Service Specialists provide officers and the public with information, process all reports, and manage and release records to the public.

Officers are supported by running records checks, updating data, and preparing cases for the court docket.

Concealed pistol licenses, court orders needing service or entry, and call outs for after-hours service all come through the Staff Services Division.

The division is available 24 hours a day to answer questions and serve the citizens of Renton in person and by telephone.

Concealed Pistol License

The City of Renton has reopened for Concealed Pistol License (CPL) fingerprinting on a limited basis.

Completed CPL application packets may be submitted in person Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Print Services available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m, by appointment only.

We are currently offering fingerprint services to CPL applicants ONLY.

For a fingerprint appointment, please call 425-430-7500, ext 8.

Masks are required in the fingerprint room during your appointment.

CPL Applications By Mail

Renton Police Department is accepting applications for Concealed Pistol Licenses (CPL) by mail.

This service is available to Renton residents only.

Do you live within the Renton City limits?

Not all locations with "Renton" in the mailing address are within Renton's jurisdiction.

If in the Renton city limits, results will display.

For an Original Concealed Pistol License

Mail the following to the Renton Police Department:

  1. completed application (updated 8/3/22)

  2. Photocopy of your valid I.D.

  3. Payment - check or money order only. Made payable to City of Renton.

After you have mailed your application packet to the Renton Police Department, you are required to be fingerprinted.

Renton Police Department has coordinated with Alliance 2020 to provide fingerprinting services. Alliance 2020 will submit your fingerprints on your behalf. Additional fees are applicable for Alliance 2020 and other third-party fingerprinting vendors.

Please note: You may obtain a fingerprint card from any third-party vendor of your choice. If a different vendor takes your fingerprints, you will need to send your fingerprint card sealed by the selected fingerprinting service to the Renton Police Department Firearms Desk by mail.

Completed CPL application packets may also be submitted in person Monday through Wednesday between 9 a.m and 3 p.m.

Fee

  • $49.25 for original CPLs

Renewing Concealed Pistol Licenses by Mail

You may now renew a Concealed Pistol License — or apply for a replacement CPL — by mail (USPS only). Applicants must send all required documentation, including payment:

  1. A completed application

  2. Photocopy of your valid I.D.

  3. Payment - check or money order only. Made payable to City of Renton.

  4. Optional: photocopy of current CPL if available. 

Fingerprints are not required for renewals, late renewals or replacement CPLs.

Fees

  • Renewal: $32.00 (within 90 days before expiration)

  • Late renewal: $42.00 (within 90 days after expiration)

  • Replacement: $10.00

Requests for police records may be made via:

Med-Project Kiosk

Safely dispose of unwanted and expired medicines including medications in pill, capsule, or liquid form in their original container or in a sealed, ziploc plastic bag.

To dispose of medications:

  1. Cross out or remove personal information from the medicine bottle or container.
  2. Leave product in original container or place it in a sealed, Ziploc plastic bag.
  3. Put medicine in the kiosk .

Not Accepted

  • Herbal remedies
  • Cosmetics or other personal care products
  • Medical devices including inhalers
  • Pet pesticide products
  • Sharps
  • Illicit drugs
