There are several programs within the City of Renton that support bicycling as a means of healthy, active transportation.
Bicycle Route Development program
A master plan has been formulated to identify and construct an integrated system of bicycle routes and trails and upgrade streets to better accommodate bicycles. Many locations along existing and potential routes have site-specific issues, which are addressed in this program. A bicycle and trail map for the City of Renton was developed in 2009. Contact Dan Hasty, 425-430-7217 for more information.
Affordable Bicycle Helmets
Valley Medical Center offers fitted, affordable, bicycle helmets ($8 each) to children and adults at selected community events in spring and summer.
King County Metro bicycle lockers
These lockers are located at the Downtown Renton Transit Center (South 2nd Street and Burnett Avenue South) and the Renton Highlands Park & Ride (Edmonds Avenue NE and NE 16th Street).
They may be rented from King County Metro Transit on a space-available basis.
