Per the City of Renton's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit (also known as Renton’s Municipal Stormwater Permit), it is required to adopt updated surface water design standards that are equivalent to portions of Volume 1 of the 2019 Stormwater Management Manual for Western Washington by June 30, 2022.
The
2021 King County Surface Water Design Manual has been approved by the Department of Ecology as an equivalent manual. To comply with this NPDES permit requirement, the city adopted the 2021 King County Surface Water Design Manual with amendments to create the 2022 City of Renton Surface Water Design Manual.
The 2022 City of Renton Surface Water Design Manual is applicable to projects vested with a complete application
after June 22, 2022.
