Mini-pitch at Highlands Park
On July 7, 2021, a partnership between the city and Seattle Sounders FC RAVE Foundation, along with King County Parks, Renton Public Schools, Highlands Elementary School, and Premera Blue Cross opened a mini-pitch.
The ribbon-cutting was MC’d by former Sounders FC player Brad Evans and involved dozens of students enrolled in the city’s STEM program.
Marcus Clinton, one of the students in the STEM program, enjoyed the honor of taking the ceremonial first kick. After the kick, all the students received a Sounders FC soccer ball, and Cultures United conducted soccer skills training stations.
