The City of Renton Walkway Program provides for the removal and replacement of existing curb and gutter, sidewalks and curb ramps, where such facilities have deteriorated or have been damaged.
The program installs curb and gutter, sidewalks and curb ramps where they do not exist. There are many older neighborhoods with damaged or deteriorated infrastructure or lacking curb ramps up to current ADA standards. These deficiencies will be addressed by this program to provide safe and convenient non-motorized facilities for pedestrians.
Schedule
This is an ongoing, annual program started in 2009. Projects for 2009-2010 included:
- Renton Highlands - NE 5th Street to NE 20th Street and Edmonds Avenue to Sunset Boulevard
- Maplewood Glen
- SE 128th Street near Lindbergh High School
Projects for 2011 and beyond are still to be determined.
Budget
$2.04 million is programmed 2012 through 2017 (varies, but generally, $250,000 is programmed per year). This is largely an unfunded program.
