The bridge inspection & repair program inspects city-owned bridges every two years to determine bridge sufficiency and load ratings, seismic retrofit needs, undertake minor repairs, and preventative maintenance as needed per the requirements of the State of Washington and federal bridge inspection standards.
Inspection reveals structural deficiencies, physical deterioration, or functional obsolescence and is required to qualify for federal bridge replacement grant funding. Repair funding is provided to accomplish improvements identified through the inspection program to increase the safety and extend the longevity of the structures.
Schedule
Biennial bridge inspections will occur in 2015. A few bridges require an annual inspection.
Budget
$676,151 is programmed through 2020 for this program. $280,000 is unfunded.
