Directions

From the North: Take Exit #4 from I-405 South, to Sunset Boulevard Northeast. Turn right on Bronson Way North, and get into the far left lane before it crosses the Cedar River. After crossing the river, turn left onto Mill Avenue South. Proceed two blocks to the Museum on the right.

From the South: Take Exit #2 from I-405 North. At the traffic light turn right on Grady Way and proceed until the street turns left on Main. Proceed on Main, getting into the left hand lane until it crosses the railroad tracks and intersects with Third. As the street curves, the Museum is on the left.

Parking

We recommend parking at the 200 Mill Lot and using the crosswalk toward 2nd street to cross Mill Avenue as the safest way to get to the museum during this time.

Parking

Limited parking spaces are available directly in front of and behind the Museum.

Tours

Due to a shortage of staff, we are currently unable to host Museum tours. Please consider the Downtown Renton Partnership History Tour or the free self-guided tree tour as alternatives!

The Renton History Museum offers guided tours for all ages by two-week advance appointment.
Group tours of the Museum are available for $5.00 per person (for groups of children, chaperones are free). Tours are tailored for age, skill level, and interest; special activities—storytelling, demonstrations, crafts—are available for an additional fee. Please call or email to book your tours at least two weeks in advance. There is a $40 minimum charge for tours. This fee includes admission for 8 people.

To reserve a tour, please fill out the:
Renton History Museum Tour Scheduling Form and email it to the Public Engagement Coordinator.

Research and Access to Collections

The Museum maintains a collection of over 18,000 historic photos and 10,000 objects and is open to researchers by appointment. The collection includes early books and newspapers, records from local businesses, ephemera and photos relating to school life, and collections of many different types of artifacts. Call 425-255-2330 or email to make an appointment. Museum staff and volunteers are available to assist researchers with historical and genealogical questions.
