Contact Information

The Renton Office of Emergency Management is part of the Executive Department, providing disaster mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery services to the City of Renton.

What We Do

Renton Emergency Management provides disaster mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery services to the City of Renton, Washington.

Emergency situations are regularly handled by response agencies like Police, Fire, or Public Works, but sometimes a disaster happens that is beyond the city’s normal capability to respond. That’s where emergency management comes in.

Emergency Management provides additional coordination of resources, information, operational goals and planning efforts to support the response to significant emergencies in Renton. Learn more.

A disaster is an event that goes beyond the scope of local resources. Normally, response agencies like police, fire, or public works can handle emergencies.

If something happens that goes beyond the capabilities of those agencies to handle alone, Emergency Management can help coordinate resources and information for an effective response.

When an emergency is not happening, Emergency Management develops and maintains emergency plans for the city, helps residents get prepared, conducts disaster exercises, and much more.

Current Projects

While we always have lots of other projects going on, here are our current goals:
  • Revise the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and submit for State approval
  • Complete and submit the Debris Management Plan for FEMA approval
  • Revise and test the Continuity of Operations Plan
  • Develop a coordinated citywide social media team for emergency situations
